Raising Kids at TBE

Kadima Beth El Religious School

Kadima means forward, and reflects our striving to help today's families bring the vibrancy and relevance of the Jewish tradition forward into their lives. We honor the diversity of our student body and welcome students from all kinds of Jewish families.

We offer a variety of opportunities for participation and enrichment while maintaining our fundamental goals of helping children and their families:

  1. Become lifelong active participants in Jewish living, growth, learning, and community.
  2. Attain the foundation to live responsible lives informed by Jewish tradition and values.

We recognize each child as a unique and special individual and, along with parents, help to nurture, encourage, and support their identities, both Jewishly and generally. We are committed to creating opportunities to enhance the community and to make Shabbat and other Jewish holidays a special experience.

Scholarships are available so that all families can participate in our educational programs regardless of personal finances.

Family Engagement Committee

TBE's Family Engagement Committee (FEC) plans programs, social gatherings, and services for TBE parents with young children. Programs led by the FEC include Tot Shabbat (Friday night service for kids ages 6 and under), the Tot Spot (play area for little kids during Shabbat services), childcare on Shabbat mornings, pancake breakfast, kids book bundles from our library, co-sponsored community programs with PJ Library and other local organizations, family Pride events, and more!

Tot Shabbat + Children's Holiday Services

Parents and kids (ages 6 and under) are warmly invited to join us for a fun, interactive Family Kabbalat Shabbat service once a month! Starting with a chance to schmooze with friends, we will then transition to the family service and story time. The full program will last about an hour.

Please check the calendar for upcoming service dates and times.

For the first and second days of Rosh Hashanah and the morning of Yom Kippur we offer separate services for younger children and elementary school aged children. Please check the High Holidays page for more information.

Tot Spot

The Tot Spot is a cozy nook in our sanctuary with Shabbat-friendly toys so that little kids can play and feel at home during services, and parents can participate in the service as much as they'd like.
