weddingRabbi Braun is available for consultation and discussion of all marriages.  Conservative clergy may only participate in a wedding where both members of the couple are Jewish, however, our clergy are happy to offer support and advice about the process to interfaith couples.

Temple Beth El couples have chosen to be married in our sanctuary, foyer, courtyard, or alternate location.  Regardless of where your marriage ceremony takes place or who performs it, we invite you to have an aufruf prior to your wedding during Shabbat services.

An aufruf is a communal acknowledgement of the upcoming wedding. The aufruf is part of Shabbat services during which one or both of the people to be wed receive(s) an aliyah to the Torah. Following the aliyah, the rabbi usually offers a Misheberakh blessing [said for someone who has an aliyah] for the couple.  As the couple leaves the bimah they are showered with candy and wishes for a sweet life together.  Traditionally the aufruf would take place on the Shabbat prior to the wedding, but there is flexibility now about the timing. Usually the couple or their families sponsor a kiddush in the social hall following the aufruf.

Please contact the Temple office if you would like to arrange a meeting with Rabbi Braun about your plans for marriage or schedule an aufruf and kiddush.
