Bar/Bat Mitzvah Training

All children meeting Hebrew School requirements and whose families are members in good standing are welcome and encouraged to study for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Dates are arranged through the Ritual Committee in consultation with the Rabbi and Education Director.

Dov Goldberg, our Director of Congregational Learning, conducts the B'nai Mitzvah tutoring while Rabbi Braun works with students to develop their divrei Torah.  In addition, Rabbi Braun and Mr. Goldberg co-teach a series of classes for B'nai Mitzvah students and their parents.

The Temple encourages the use of its facilities for all Simchas and charges only for tablecloth rental, kitchen use, custodial time, and breakage. Contact the office for a detailed packet of information.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Projects

For his Bar Mitzvah project, Ben Garson is organizing a fundraiser for the Woodie Wheaton Land Trust dedicated to preserving the natural habitat of the pristine shorelines and woodlands of the East Grand Lake area of Maine.

Recent Celebrations

...Renata Levine Bat Mitzvah...
Please join Vilean Taggersell and Robert Levine in celebrating the Bat Mitzvah of their daughter Renata on October 23-24.  Renata is an eighth grade student at Waynflete School in Portland.  She is a Junior Black Belt in Karate and enjoys playing the piano, reading, and spending time with her friends.  During the summer Renata participates in sailing and kayaking.  Renata also enjoys travel and is working to become fluent in Spanish.  Celebrating with Renata will be her 10 year old brother Caleb.
